Stool Handle

With this project, we aim to create a handle to make the carry of a folding stool more ergonomic while retaining ease of opening.

Avery (a pseudonm) is an individual with multiple sclerosis (MS). She is very active and needs to sit anytime she is not walking to avoid spinal compression. To assist with this, Avery caries a folding camp stool. However, because she needs to open and close it frequently and quickly, she does not use the velcro strap that came with the stool and has started to cause damage to her hand because she carries it in an awkward position.

Avery came to use to talk about redesigning the tool long-term and short-term to develop a handle. We have been working with her on various designs for the handle to help more immediately with daily carrying of the stool and starting to think about new stool designs.
